Sad to report yesterdays passing of the great folk singer/songwriter Richie Havens. Richie worked at Sunburst a number of years ago on a beautiful remake of Bruce Springsteen's "Streets Of Philadelphia" for the Academy Award Winning Songs CD box set. An amazing voice and super nice guy who will be missed by all who knew him.

Mickey Rooney Narration

Legendary actor Mickey Rooney dropped by last week to record narration on a new documentary film by Kallisti Media. The film, Soldier's Stories, is about recollections of World War I battles as told by war veterans.

Big Daddy Starts Recording New Album!

1950's Rock & Roll mash up band Big Daddy started recording their new album: Smashing Songs Of Stage and Screen this weekend with the help of some great session players. They including Denny Croy on Stand Up Bass, Sonny Leyland, Wayne Peet, and Norman Welch on Acoustic Piano and Todd Tatum, Damon DeGrignon and Gary Hoffman on Drums.

Eight rhythm tracks were cut during the three recording dates with seven more to be added next month…look for the album to be finished by mid-summer of this year.

Craig Brandau’s New Book/CD

Craig Brandau has just released his Hal Leonard sheet music book/CD. The title is "Jazz Chord Solos for Tenor Ukulele" and features Craig playing the lead "Uku" on 10 standards may of which were recorded at Sunburst. Arrangement credit goes to Craig along with Guitarist Howard Heitmeyer.

Nintendo’s Metroid Music

Noted computer game composer and acoustic pianist Martin Leung has recorded the track Seeking Light at Sunburst for the upcoming release of Harmony of a Hunter. The CD features music from both Nintendo's Metroid & Super Metroid games and will be available at Shinesparkers.net by year end 2012.

NEVE 1272 Mic Pre-amps rebuilt

Roy Orbison’s co-writer comments on Von Fox’s latest album

Joe Melson, co-writer with the legendary Roy Orbison on many of Roy's biggest hits, wrote the following letter to Kurt Campbell, Artist Manager for Von Fox regarding the album Memories Of Orbison recorded and mixed at Sunburst:
